Trinity County is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented professional to serve as its Director of Building and Planning. This is a great opportunity to play a significant role in the leadership of this northern California community rich in history, culture, and diversity.
Located in the lower reaches of the Cascade Range midway between Redding in Shasta County and the Northern Redwood Coast, Trinity County encompasses approximately 3,200 square miles in northwestern California. Established in 1850, Trinity is one of the state’s original 27 counties and with 16,000 residents one of the most sparsely populated. It is a land of great scenic beauty, with many rugged peaks, wooded mountains, lakes, and rivers.
The Director of Building and Planning plans, organizes, manages, directs, and supervises the activities, programs, and services of the County Building and Planning Department. They are responsible for fiscal management, personnel management, program planning, program evaluation, and public and political relations; represent Department activities, programs and services with community organizations and other government agencies; serve as the Executive Secretary to the Planning Commission; and to do related work as required.
