2027 Periodic Update Workshop Series

Commerce, in partnership with the Municipal Research and Services Center (MRSC) brings you comprehensive information and resources that support jurisdictions with periodic updates due in 2027, required under the Growth Management Act (GMA) RCW 36.70A.130. Information relevant to all jurisdictions throughout the statewill be provided, so all are encouraged to attend! This workshop will cover:

• Housing planning for partially planning jurisdictions
• Overview of the new housing element requirements and tips for completing each section (identifying housing needs, land capacity, adequate provisions and racially disparate impacts)
• Updates to housing element guidance based on recent Growth Management Hearings Board (GMHB) cases
• Other housing code changes required with the periodic update
• Community spotlight: City of Anacortes
• Discussion and Q&A

Each workshop in the series will feature a different periodic update topic in–depth, including topics for jurisdictions that are partially planning under the GMA. Stay tuned to the periodic update webpage for more information and registration!
