About the Webinar:

Not Your Grandmother’s Historic Preservation

No, it is not your imagination. Even preservationists know that historic preservation can be confusing and seem overly complicated or fussy to most people! This session will be jointly presented from the state and local perspectives. Michelle and Katie will work to demystify and dispel some of the more negative connotations associated with preservation, especially at the local level, and focus on its many community benefits and financial incentives.

Webinar log-in information will be emailed to all registrants on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.

Please reach out to amy@aminc.org with any questions.

Michelle Thompson

In her professional and personal time, Michelle can be found talking about the community and environmental benefits of historic preservation, exploring creaky old buildings, or following an “end of the maintained road” sign looking for cool remnants of our past.

Katie Franks

Through her 22 years with the City, she has enjoyed connecting people with the city’s history by creating walking tours, holding architectural survey workshops, developing interpretive signage for buildings and districts, as well as helping owners of historic buildings save big money on their rehabilitation projects.
