The Community Development Department of the City of Auburn is seeking a skilled Planner I OR Planner II to join our team!  The possible incumbent will be brought in as either a Planner I or II, depending on qualifications. This position performs professional planning work in a municipal setting focusing on current planning.
PLANNER I      $88,576.56 – $108,882.72/annually

This position performs entry-level, professional work in municipal planning supporting community development, permit processing, and business license reviews.  Tasks include, but are not limited to, preparing community development-related studies and reports; researching and interpreting data; developing land use plans and zoning regulations; processing land use applications and permits; permit and project review; processing land use approvals; responding to requests for information; special projects; and providing customer service and planning expertise at the Permit Center.

PLANNER II      $96,208.08 – $118,263.84/annually

This position performs moderately more difficult professional work in municipal planning; supporting all facets of community development, permit processing, and business licensing. The distinguishing characteristic of this position in the classification series is that the Planner II is expected to perform more advanced-level projects independently and provides customer service and planning expertise at the Permit Center with projects that require higher complexity and increasingly specialized knowledge.  The Planner II may also act as a project lead to staff members in lower classifications on projects assigned.
